In central Texas
just southeast of the Hill Country, Travis
County was formed in 1840 from Bastrop County. Its county seat, Austin,
is also the Texas State Capital and home to the University of Texas. Travis is bordered by the counties
of Williamson, Bastrop,
Caldwell, Hays, Blanco and
Burnet.
