Caldwell County
County History and Geography
In the Blackland Prairie Region of Central Texas, Caldwell County was formed in 1848 from Gonzales County.
Its
county seat, Lockhart, is on US-190, about 60 miles northeast of San Antonio and 25 miles south of
Austin. Caldwell is bordered by the counties of Travis,
Bastrop, Gonzales,
Guadalupe and Hays.
