County History and Geography
In the Blackland
Prairie Region of north Texas, Kaufman
County was formed in 1848 from Henderson
County. Its county seat, Kaufman, is on US-175, about 25 miles southeast of
Dallas. Kaufman County is bordered by the counties of Hunt,
Van Zandt, Henderson,
Ellis,
Dallas and Rockwall.
