Hockley County

County History and Geography

In the High Plains Region of the Texas Panhandle, Hockley County was formed in 1876 from Young and Bexar Counties. Its county seat, Levelland, is on TX-114, about 30 miles west of Lubbock. Hockley is bordered by the counties of Cochran, Lamb, Lubbock and Terry.
