County History and Geography

In the South Texas Brush Country, Goliad County was formed in 1836 as an original Texas county. Its county seat, Goliad, is on US-59, about 150 miles SW of Houston and 100 miles SE of San Antonio. Goliad is bordered by the counties of Karnes, De Witt, Victoria, Refugio and Bee.
