Franklin County

County History and Geography

In the Oakwoods and Prairies Region of northeast Texas, Franklin County was formed in 1875 from Titus County. Its county seat, Mount Vernon, is on I-30, about 100 miles east of Dallas. Franklin is bordered by the counties of Red River, Titus, Camp, Wood and Hopkins.
