In the Piney Woods Region of east Texas, Camp County was formed in 1874 from Upshur County.
Its county
seat, Pittsburg, is on US-271, about 15 miles south of I-30 and 115 miles east of Dallas. Camp is
bordered by the counties of Titus, Morris,
Upshur, Wood and
Franklin.
