Red River County
County History and Geography
In northeast Texas, Red
River County was formed as an original Texas county in 1836. Clarksville,
the county seat and largest town, is about 60 miles NW of Texarkana and
115 miles NE of Dallas. Red River County, separated from Oklahoma by the
Red River, is bounded by the Texas counties of Bowie,
Morris, Titus,
Franklin, and Lamar, as
well as the Oklahoma counties of Choctaw
and McCurtain.
