Delta County

County History and Geography

In the Blackland Prairies of northeastern Texas, 70 miles from the eastern and 30 miles from the northern state boundaries, Delta County was formed in 1870 from Lamar and Hopkins counties. Its county seat, Cooper, is 75 miles northeast of Dallas. Delta County is bounded by the counties of Lamar, Franklin, Hopkins, Hunt and Fannin.
