Collingsworth County
County History and Geography
In the Rolling Plains Region of the Texas Panhandle, Collingsworth County was formed in 1876 from
Clay County and Bexar and Young Territories. Its county seat, Wellington, is
about 100 miles ESE of
Amarillo and 250 miles NW of Fort Worth. Collingsworth is bordered by the Texas
counties of Wheeler, Donley, Hall and Childress ,
and by the Oklahoma counties of Beckham and
Harmon.
