Aransas County

County History and Geography

Aransas County is located on the Gulf Coast and comprised of coastal marshes and barrier islands. It was formed in 1871 from Refugio County. Its county seat, Rockport, is about 35 miles ENE of Corpus Christi. The county is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the counties of Calhoun,  Refugio and San Patricio.
