McCormick County
History
In west central
South Carolina, McCormick County was formed in 1916 from
Greenwood and
Abbeville Counties. Its county seat, the town of McCormick, is on
US-378, about 35 miles NNW of Augusta, GA and 60 miles west of Columbia.
McCormick County is bordered by the South Carolina counties of
Abbeville, Greenwood and
Edgefield, and the Georgia counties of
Columbia, Lincoln and
Elbert.
