Laurens District/County
History
In the upper South
Carolina part of the Piedmont region, Laurens County was formed in 1785
from Ninety-Six District. In 1798, when the counties of
Ninety-Six
District were abolished, it became Laurens District. In 1868, Laurens
District was designated Laurens County. Its county seat, the town of
Laurens, is on I-385, about 30 miles southeast of Greenville, and 60
miles northwest of Columbia. Laurens County is bordered by the counties
of Spartanburg, Union,
Newberry, Greenwood,
Abbeville and Greenville.

Zachary Julian Culpepper. WATERLOO - Services for
Zachary Julian Culpepper, infant son of Vannoy Kenton and Kristin Julian
Culpepper, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Blyth Funeral Home
Chapel. Blyth Funeral Home is in charge. Zachary died Tuesday. Surviving
are his parents; maternal grandparents, James R. Jr. and Elizabeth Jayne
Julian; paternal grandparents, Donald and Priscilla Culpepper;
maternal great-grandparents, James R. Sr. and Johnnie Julian, MaeBelle
Werner; paternal great-grandparents Arthur S. and Sue Cooke, Coy and
