Jasper County
History
In the Carolina Low
Country, Jasper County was formed in 1912 from Beaufort and
Hampton
Counties. Its county seat, the town of Ridgeland, is on I-95, about 35
miles north of Savannah, GA and 110 miles south of Columbia. Jasper
County is bordered by the South Carolina counties of
Hampton and Beaufort, and the Georgia counties of
Effingham and
Chatham.
