Scotland County
County History and Geography
In the Inner Coastal Plain and the southeastern part of North Carolina, Scotland County was formed in
1899
from Richmond County. Laurinburg, its county seat, is on US-74, about 90 miles
SSW of
Raleigh and 90 miles ESE of Charlotte. Scotland is bordered by the North
Carolina counties of Richmond, Moore,
Hoke and
Robeson, and the South Carolina county of
Marlboro.
