County History and Geography

In the Outer Coastal Plain and in the eastern part of North Carolina, Pamlico County was formed in 1872 from Beaufort and Craven Counties. Bayboro, its county seat, is about 125 miles ESE of Raleigh. Pamlico is bordered by Pamlico Sound, Neuse River and the counties of Craven and Beaufort.
