Union County
History
On the Ohio River
in Kentucky's Western Coalfields Region,
Union County was formed in 1811 from
Henderson County. Its county seat,
Morganfield, is on
US-80 about 200 miles west of Lexington. Union is bordered by the Kentucky counties of
Henderson, Webster and Crittenden, the Indiana county of
Posey, and the Illinois counties of Gallatin and Hardin.
