History
In the Jackson
Purchase Region at the western tip of Kentucky, bordering Kentucky Lake on the east and Tennessee on the south,
Calloway County was formed in 1821 from
Hickman County. Its county seat,
Murray, is on
US-641 about 240 miles WSW of Lexington. Calloway is bordered by the Kentucky counties of
Graves, Marshall and Trigg,
and by Henry Co., TN.
The Culpeppers in this county lived near the Tennessee border and spilled over
from adjacent Henry Co., TN.
