Whitfield County
History
In the Ridge and
Valley Region of Georgia,
Whitfield County was formed in 1851 from
Murray County. Its county seat,
Dalton, is on
I-75 about 90 miles NNW of Atlanta and 25 miles southeast of Chattanooga,
TN. Whitfield is bordered by the Georgia counties of
Murray,
Gordon, Walker and
Catoosa, and the Tennessee county of Bradley.
