Dougherty County

History

In the Upper Coastal Plains Region of Georgia, Dougherty County was formed in 1853 from the northeast corner of Baker County. Its county seat, Albany, is on US-19 about 175 miles south of Atlanta and 85 miles southeast of Columbus. Dougherty is bordered by the counties of Lee, Worth, Mitchell, Baker, Calhoun and Terrell.
