Charlton County

History
In the Lower Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Charlton County was formed in 1854 from
Camden County. Its county seat,
Folkston, is near the Florida border and on
US-1 about 275 miles southeast of Atlanta and 50 miles northwest of
Jacksonville, FL. Charlton, which includes a large part of
the Okefenokee Swamp, is bordered by the Georgia counties of
Camden,
Brantley and Ware, and the
Florida counties of Nassau and
Baker.
