Baker County
History
In the Northeast Region of
Florida,
Baker County was formed in 1861 from New River
(later renamed Bradford) County. Its county seat,
Macclenny, is on
I-10 about 25 miles west of Jacksonville and 125 miles east of Tallahassee. Baker is bordered by the
Florida counties of Nassau, Duval,
Clay, Bradford,
Union and Columbia, and the
Georgia counties of Charlton and
Ware.
