Appling County
History
In the Lower Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Appling County was formed in 1818 as an original
county from the Creek cessions. Its county seat,
Baxley, is on
US-1 and US-341 about 200 miles southeast of Atlanta and 80 miles west of Savannah. Appling is bordered by the counties of
Toombs, Tattnall, Wayne,
Pierce, Bacon and
Jeff Davis.
