Stanislaus County
History
In the Central Valley of northern
California, Stanislaus County was formed in 1854 from
the western part of Tuolumne County. Its county seat, Modesto, is on CA-99,
about 80 miles ESE of San Francisco. Stanislaus is bordered by the counties of
Calaveras, Tuolumne, Merced,
Santa Clara, and San Joaquin.
