In the Central
Valley region of northern California, San Joaquin County
was formed in 1850 as an original California County. Its county seat, Stockton,
is on I-5, about 60 miles east of San Francisco. San Joaquin is bordered by the
counties of Sacramento, Amador, Calaveras,
Stanislaus, Alameda and
Contra Costa.
