Nevada County
County History and Geography
In the Timberlands Region of southern Arkansas, Nevada
County was formed in 1871 from parts of Hempstead, Columbia, and
Ouachita counties. Its county seat,
Prescott, is on
I-30, about 100 miles southwest of Little Rock. Nevada is bordered by the
counties of Clark, Ouachita, Columbia,
Lafayette, Hempstead and Pike.

Pauline Ingram Culpepper Aiken
Unknown newspaper. Pauline Ingram Aiken, 97, of Hope
(Hempstead Co., Arkansas),
died Sunday, 16 Jan 2000 in the Medical Park Hospital in Hope. Born
15 Jan 1903 in Nevada County (Arkansas), she was the
daughter of James
Culpepper and Pinkney Paralee Merritt Ingram. She was a homemaker, a
retired caregiver and general store salesperson, member of Carolina
Methodist Church of Rosston (Nevada Co., Arkansas), was raised in the Rosston area, last of
12 children, a former resident of Kelly Memorial Homes and was given
a 97th birthday party by her nieces and nephews the day before she
died. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Leroy Aiken,
who died in 1940, a son, Alfred Leroy Aiken II, and her parents.
Survivors include a grandson, Alfred Leroy Aiken III; two
great-grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Bates of Gatesville (Lavaca Co., Texas, and
Christopher Neal Aiken of North Carolina; and many nieces and
nephews. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Kilgore
Cemetery in Kilgore (Gregg Co.), Texas, with Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of
Hope in charge. |
