Research note* | Nov 2009 | From Gerald Buchanan:
Lester's parents were John Nathaniel Burk (1870 AL 1937 TX) and Annie Harrison (1876 TX - 1943 TX) who were cousins. John Nathaniel Burk's parents were James Monroe Burk (1834-1879) and Aultina Harrison (1834-1876 - spelling differs in some sources), both of whom are buried in the cemetery at the Six Mile Baptist Church in Bibb Co., AL.
Annie Harrison's parents were Dennis Carroll Harrison (1819 AL - 1892 TX) and his second wife Martha Flore (d. 1892). Both Dennis and Martha are buried at Iredell, Bosque Co., TX.
The father of both Dennis Carroll Harrison and Aultine Harrison was Nathaniel Harrison of Shelby Co., AL. Dennis is Nathaniel's son by his first wife, Sarah Carroll. Aultina is Nathaniel's daughter by his second wife, Margaret "Peggy" Crowson, daughter of the Rev. Moses Crowson, a pioneer Alabama Baptist minister. My great-great-grandmother, Nancy C. (Harrison) Buchanan is a sister of Aultina Harrison and a half-sister of Dennis Harrison. There were, of course, other Harrison siblings from both marriages, and some of them also went to TX after the Civil War..1 |
