She was born on January 8, 1919 in Doerun to the late Robert Arthur Hamlin and the late Maggie Lee Massey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 41 years, Willis Carter, an infant son, Jerry Willis Carter, a sister, Winnie and brother-in-law, Howard Adams, brother-in-law Reuben Strickland , sister-in-law Mozelle Hamlin and daughter-in-law Ann Martin Carter. She had lived in the Herod community since the early 1970's, but made her home for the past 2 ½ years with her daughter and son-in-law Anne and Harold Patterson of Monroe.
She is survived by her children Larry and Rose Carter of Elgin, SC, Gary and Thelma Carter of Americus, Anne and Harold Patterson of Monroe and Janice and Earl Guined of Herod. Also surviving is her brother Julius Hamlin of Ft. Gaines, sister Gertrude Strickland of Albany, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Harvey Funeral Chapel in Dawson with Rev. Phil Law officiating. Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the funeral home.5 |
