Funeral services were held Sunday, June 28, 1981 at 2 p.m. from the Ashland First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Drinkwater officiating Burial followed in the Lineville City Cemetery with Brock Funeral Home directing. Survivors include her mother, Mrs Edna G. Dempsey of Ashland; one sister, Mrs. Edna G. Elrod of Marianna, Florida; and one nephew, Fred Elrod, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia. Miss Dempsey was a native of Lineville and had lived all her life in Clay County. She was retired from the State of Alabama, Department of Pensions and Security. She was a member of the Ashland First Baptist Church. Active pallbearers were Alan Smith, Jim Shack Gay, Arthur Hardegree, Jr., Bob Wynn, DeForest Nolen. E.D. Riley, Jr., Leonard Brooks. Dr. C. P. Horn and Dr. George Beale.
