Docie sang alto in a quartet with her sister, Lottie, and her brothers, Jewell and June. She also played the organ. Mary Lillian Butler Pierce wrote in a 17 Jan 1980 letter that Docie and her husband had 14 children. She was placed in an Oxford, AL nursing home when her mind began to go.
