Obituary*say 7 Apr 2012 Daniel A. (Danny) Dunnam, Sr., 82, of Echols County died in West Palm Beach, FL, suddenly, after a period of declining health. Born in Five Points, AL to the late Arnold Hawthorne Dunnam and Mildred Faine Bellcher Dunnam, Mr. Dunnam moved with his family at an early age to South Florida. A graduate of Palm Beach High School in West Palm Beach, he went on to join the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. After his stint in the Army, Mr. Dunnam returned to West Palm Beach, FL where he met and married the former Rubye Lucille Culpepper on Aug. 16,1953 and worked for Southern Bell for 35 years before retiring as a manager.

After his retirement in the mid 1970's, the Dunnam's moved to Echols County, GA to care for her parents. Mr. Dunnam had a farm on Culpepper Road where he loved caring for his cows for many years, the Dunnam's also loved traveling, having traveled with many groups to locations all over the country. He was a member of Bethel Church of God and was quoted in his high school yearbook with a statement that would characterize his life- "Give the world the best you have and the best will come to you."

Mr. Dunnam is survived by a daughter and son in law, Debra E. & Mark Thompson and a son and daughter in law, Daniel A. Jr. & Cyndi Dunnam; three grandchildren, Nathan Thompson, Travis Thompson and Stacie Maine; five brothers and four sisters in law, Ben & Kathy Dunnam, Carl & Sylvia Dunnam, Freddie & Libby Dunnam, and Johnny Dunnam, and Kenny & Lois Dunnam; and two sisters and a brother in law, Patricia Smith and Martha & Bob Cullum; sister in law, Sharon Hagemann and her husband George. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Skye, Payton and Kaira Maine and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Culpepper Dunnam, a brother George Dunnam and a special sister in law, Pauline Dunnam.1

     Survivors include her daughter Elaine Cunningham and husband Bob of Bailey; sons Wayne Culpeper and wife Jo Ann of Flowood and Gary Culpepper and wife Rhonda of Brandon; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother Joe Swain of Meridian; sisters Mary Gaddis of Meridian and Pauline Castle of Pachuta and numerous nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Milford Culpepper; parents Al and Mannie Swain; sister Ruth Garrison, Myrtle McDaniel, Velma Hays and brother Melvin Swain.
     The family requests memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church Building Fund. Pallbearers will be Byron Culpepper, Michael Byrd, Michael Akin, Johnny Wornall, Jeremy Ward and Ray Ethridge. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at robertbarhamffh.com. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.1
