Biography* From Bill Draper:

Jonathan left Va., probably Halifax County, around 1800, and settled in Jackson County, Ga. These families, as well as most who married into the early Georgia Martins were strict Baptists.

Jonathan Edward, a farmer, was born circa 1769, and Ann was born circa 1779, based on census and tax records. When Hall County was created out of Jackson County, Jonathan's residence changed to Hall around 1820. Jonathan died circa 1853, at around 73, in Lula, Hall Co., Ga., but Ann's death is unknown.

The first two children were born in Va., and may have been the product of a first wife, but all children born in Ga. were Ann's.

Obituary*14 Feb 1986 James T. CULPEPPER, 71, of Box 401, died Tuesday at Tuskegee (Ala.) Veterans Administration Hospital [Elmore County, Alabama].
     The funeral and burial will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Talbotton, according to Lamar's Funeral home.
     Mr. CULPEPPER was born Jan 11, 1915, in Talbot County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur CULPEPPER. He was a retired oil refinery foreman and an Army veteran of World War II.
     Survivors include a son, James T. CULPEPPER Jr., of Compton, Calif; four daughters, Caroline CULPEPPER, Lynne CULPEPPER, both of Compton, Lillie Mae CULPEPPER of Chicago and Josephine C. LITTLEJOHN of Lynwood, Calif; three brothers, Willie J. CULPEPPER of Waverly Hall, Richard CULPEPPER of Los Angeles and Gentle [=General] CULPEPPER of Talbotton; three sisters, Carrie BELL of Los Angeles, Jenice McCOREY and Mattie M. THOMAS, both of Talbotton; eight grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild.8 
Burial*16 Feb 1986 His body was interred on 16 Feb 1986 at Salem Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Olive Branch, Talbot Co., Georgia.4,8
