Scurry County

County History and Geography

In the Southwestern Tablelands at the base of the Llano Estacado in West Texas, Scurry County was formed in 1876 from Bexar and Young Territories. Snyder, the county seat, is ninety miles northwest of Abilene. Scurry County is bordered by the counties of Garza, Kent, Fisher, Mitchell and Borden County.
