Kinney County

County History and Geography

In the South Texas Brush Country Region on the Rio Grande River, Kinney County was formed in 1850 (organized in 1872) from Bexar County. Its county seat, Bracketville, is on US-90, about 110 miles west of San Antonio. Kinney is bordered by the counties of Edwards, Uvalde, Maverick and Val Verde, plus the Mexican state of Coahuila.
