Hansford County

County History and Geography

Hansford was formed in 1876 from Young and Bexar Counties. On the northern border of the Texas High Plains Region and the Panhandle, its county seat, Spearman, is about 80 miles north of Amarillo. Hansford is bordered by the Texas counties of Ochiltree, Hutchinson and Sherman, plus the Oklahoma county of Texas.
