Comal County
County History and Geography
In the Edwards Plateau Region, Comal County was formed in 1846 from Gonzales,
Travis and Bexar Counties. Its county seat, New Braunfels
is on I-35, about 30 miles northeast of San Antonio and 50 miles southwest of Austin. It is
bordered by Hays, Guadalupe,
Bexar, Kendall and Blanco counties.
