Archer County

County History and Geography

In the Rolling Plains Region of north Texas, Archer County was formed in 1858 from Cooke County. Its county seat, Archer City, is about 20 miles south of Wichita Falls and 100 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Archer County is bordered by the counties of Wichita, Clay, Jack, Young, and Baylor.
