History
In the northeast
corner of
New Mexico,
Union County was established in 1893 from
Colfax, Mora and San Miguel counties. Its county seat, Clayton, is on US-64, about 250 miles
northeast of
Albuquerque. Union is bordered by the New Mexican counties of
Colfax, Harding and Quay, plus Las Animas Co., CO, Cimarron Co., OK, and Dallam
Co., TX.
