East Baton Rouge Parish
History
In the Plantation
region of eastern Louisiana and formerly part of Florida,
East Baton Rouge Parish was formed in 1810 as on
original parish. Its
parish seat,
Baton Rouge, is also the state capital and is on
I-10 about 75 miles WNW of New Orleans. East Baton Rouge is bordered by the
parishes of East Feliciana, Livingston, Ascension,
Iberville and West Baton Rouge.
