Madison County

History
In the heart of the
Bluegrass Region and near the center of Kentucky,
Madison County was formed in 1785 from Lincoln
County. Its county seat,
Richmond, is on
I-75 about 25 miles south of Lexington. Madison is bordered by the counties of
Fayette, Clark, Estill, Jackson, Rockcastle, Garrard
and Jessamine.
