Fayette County
History
In the heart of the
Bluegrass Region and near the center of Kentucky,
Fayette County was formed in 1780 from Kentucky Co.,
VA. Its county seat,
Lexington, is also the state capital and is at the intersection of I-64 and
I-75, about 75 miles south of Cincinnati and 75 miles miles west of Louisville. Fayette is bordered by the counties of
Scott, Bourbon, Clark,
Madison, Jessamine and Woodford.
