Bell County
History
In the Eastern
Coalfields Region of southeastern Kentucky,
Bell County was formed in 1867 from Knox and
Harlan Counties. Its county seat,
Pineville, is on
US-25E about 100 miles SSE of Lexington. Bell is bordered by the Kentucky counties of
Whitley, Knox, Clay and Harlan, as well as by Claiborne
Co., TN and Lee Co., VA.
