Rabun County
History
In the Blue Ridge Region of Georgia,
Rabun County was formed in 1819 as an original
county from the Cherokee cession. Its county seat,
Clayton, is on
US-23/US-441 about 110 miles northeast of Atlanta. At the
northeast corner of the state, Rabun is bordered by Towns Co., GA,
Habersham
Co., GA, Pendleton Co., SC (extinct), Oconee Co., SC,
Clay Co., NC, and
Macon Co., NC.
