Culpepper's Mill (Historical)
Floyd County, Georgia
Only the foundation remains of this mill that was once operated by Charles
William Culpepper, descendant of John and Nancy Culpepper. (Site Photo) Charles moved to
the area after the Civil War, had a sizeable farm and also operated this mill. His
grandson, Charles E. Culpeper, who grew up
in this area, became perhaps the wealthiest of all Culpeppers through establishing the
Coca Cola bottling operations in New York and New Jersey.
In northernmost tip of Floyd County in Chattahoochee National Forest. Take Exit 130 off
I-75 and proceed 10 miles to the west on GA-156. Turn right (north) on Everett Springs
Road. The mill is about nine miles up Everett Springs road, below the lake for
G.S.A. Camp
Juliettte Lowe. On the way, you will pass two sections of Culpepper Road and the West Union Baptist Church where many Culpeppers are buried.
