History
Bordering south
Georgia in the North Central/Suwannee River Region of Florida,
Madison County was formed in 1827 from
Jefferson County. Its county seat,
the town of Madison, is on
I-10 about 55 miles west of Tallahassee. Madison County is bordered by the
Florida counties of Hamilton,
Suwannee, Lafayette, Taylor
and
Jefferson,
and the Georgia counties of Brooks and
Lowndes.
