County History and Geography

In the Timberlands Region of southern Arkansas, Grant County was formed in 1869 from Jefferson, Hot Spring and Saline counties. Its county seat, Sheridan, is on US-187, about 30 miles south of Little Rock. Grant is bordered by the counties of Saline, Jefferson, Cleveland (Old Dorsey), Dallas and Hot Spring.
