Obituary* | 5 Mar 2013 | COLUMBUS, GEORGIA- Jewel J. Culpepper, 83, passed away on March 3, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. Private interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. Mrs. Culpepper was born in Marion County, Georgia on December 22, 1929 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy Brown. She had lived in Columbus most of her life, where she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Culpepper owned and operated Culpepper Furniture with her husband, Alvin Culpepper who preceded her in death. Survivors include her two daughters, Janice James and husband, Troy of Midland, Georgia and Teresa Bonner and husband, Jerry of Phenix City, Alabama; three sons, Phil Culpepper of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Keith Culpepper of Frisco, Texas and Troy Culpepper and wife, Katrina of Midland, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Marty Foster, Julie McCoy, Lori Culpepper, Amy Culverhouse, Tiffany Culpepper, Jay Bonner, Justin Culpepper, Matthew Culpepper and Zac Culpepper; eleven great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Irene Melton of Ft. Valley, Georgia; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the nursing staff at St. Francis Hospital and Columbus Hospice.
