Bockingfold
Manor
In about 1553, Queen Mary granted the manor of
Bockingfold, with its appurtances, to Susan Tong, to hold in
capite, and in about 1555, sold it to Thomas Culpeper10b,
Esq. of Bedgebury, who was sheriff in the 3rd year of King Edward
VI (1549). His eldest son, Alexander Culpeper11b
in about 1564
alienated that part of this manor which lay in Goudhurst to
Sharpleigh (descendant named Stephen Sharpleigh), and the other part of it which lay in Yalding,
Brenchley, Marden and Horsmonden, to Roger Revell. (Hasted's Kent,

Location: About 1/2 mile W of Claygate and the B2162, 8
miles SSW of Maidstone and 5 miles N of Goudhurst.
