Lipscomb County

County History and Geography

In the High Plains Region and at the far northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle, Lipscomb County was formed in 1876 (organized in 1887) from the Bexar and Young Territories. Its county seat, Lipscomb, is on TX-305, about 125 miles NE of Amarillo. Lipscomb is bordered by the Texas counties of Ochiltree and Hemphill and the Oklahoma counties of Ellis and Beaver.
