Dickens County

County History and Geography

In the Texas High Plains Region of the Panhandle, Dickens County was formed in 1876 (organized 1891) from Bexar and Young Territories. Its county seat, Dickens, is 60 miles east of Lubbock and 270 miles west of Dallas. Dickens County is bordered by the counties of Motley, King, Kent and Crosby.
